Karla Krenek, Grande Hostess and Proprietor of the Mighty Red Oak Steakhouse. Her daddy, Big Buck Krenek, owned the local car dealership and a 4 Section Ranch fifty miles south of town. Everyone assumed she’d go work for Buck … either running the ranch or selling cars and pickups. But Karla surprised everyone when she opened the Red Oak.  It was an instant success. Karla was an early pioneer of the salad bar, one of the first to include a cottage cheese offering and a carrot raisin salad choice. She is also credited with inventing the potato wheel, the portable condiment dish that housed dressing options for baked potatoes, a popular side dish which accompanied the steaks at the Red Oak.
