He broke nearly every bone in his body busting broncos on the Rodeo Circuit in Montana, Wyoming, California, and finally back home in Texas. His toughness, determination, and rugged good looks gained him as much attention as his championships on the circuit. He had a second career making western movies, riding out along the desert plains under the direction of Sergio Leone. He played bit parts in the beginning but eventually got larger roles, playing alongside major stars of the day in over a dozen spaghetti westerns. He bought a ranch near Hallettsville, Texas and retired there after filming his last Western in 1971.
